This is so good, Amy. Just showing up to write and share your slice of life with the world is really important. Often those more off-the-cuff, unpolished pieces are the ones people say resonated with them the most!
I enjoyed this post a lot. So much of our lives consists of waiting — I remember thinking in college that I was waiting to graduate, waiting to get married, waiting to get a job, waiting to have kids. But one of the things I appreciate about your writing is that it reminds me to live in the moment and enjoy what I have, even if it's not what I think I want. Keep writing whenever you get the chance (even if it's in the midst of moderating early morning fights on the porch/deck) and I'll continue to pray that your education grant comes through.
AJ, the fact that something I've written has helped inspire you to live in the moment is incredibly encouraging!! Thank you for taking the time to say this.
Your deck/porch makes me giggle (partly) because my husband insists on calling our porch a “deck”. (Doesn’t help that it’s been spattered with blue paint spots ever since a birthday party that involved having the kids paint. Acrylics I believe. It was fun at the time…)
Amy, I absolutely love that line about birds and sheet music. That’s a keeper! Your writing is, as always, delightful.
Life in all its glory: the beautiful, the unknown, and the stressful.

Jeannie, that's so kind! Thank you!
(We are home from the lake and the kids are asleep in the car so I'm replying to comments now😂)

Love this.
I enjoy reading your musings on daily life - it often makes me smile.
Feeling this post as I try to write while my 4 year old screams the lyrics to the power rangers theme song
